what causes cellulite?

There is no definite explanation for why cellulite occurs. While it may be the result of an unhealthy lifestyle, there may be other causes, including genetics or hormonal changes. One fact remains true, though: an estimated 85% to 98% of women over the age of 16 have cellulite, regardless of their size, shape or weight.

The results

For the best results, we suggest getting a cure of 6 treatments every week. Once you have finished your cure you can then decide to do touch ups every month or right before the summer. Your specialist will help you come up with a personalized treatment plan.

  • 30 – 60 minute treatments
  • 6 treatments
  • every week
  • maintenance treatments suggested

Insider’s look

How Does The VelaShape III work?

Syneron’s VelaShape combines several techniques which, when put together, give the best results: infrared optical energy, aspiration, radio frequency and massage using mechanical rollers. This technology is called elòs and its advantage is that it penetrates deep into the fatty tissue for visible results.

The infrared optical energy sends heat into the deeper layers of the skin while the suction system, located between the rollers, makes the
radio-frequency in fatty tissue and that the rollers massage and fragment cellulite (in synergy with radio-frequency), which activates metabolism and circulation to move and distribute fat. They are therefore no longer accumulated in unwanted places!

During the treatment, the technician will pass the small machine to the place to be treated, stopping approximately every 5 seconds to insist on each zone. The practitioner will iron several times in the same places to ensure that the temperature of the
skin reaches the right degree (about 40 degrees, which is quite warm, but very bearable) by checking with an infrared thermometer.

How Quickly Will I Notice A Change?

Gradual improvement of the treated area can be seen after the first treatment—the surface of the skin in the treated area will feel smoother and firmer. Circumferential reduction will be seen from the first to the second session, and cellulite improvement is noticed in as few as 4 sessions.

What Sort Of Results Can I Expect?

In clinical trials, the average range of circumferential reduction was 0.5 to 3 inches.  You can expect to see cellulite reduction of up to 80% after a cure of 6 treatments but will notice a change in texture  as of the first treatment.

Is The Treatment Safe?

Treatment is safe and effective for all skin types and colors. There are no reported short-term or long-term health effects.

Are VelaShape III Treatments Painful?

Most patients find VelaShape comfortable—like a warm deep-tissue massage. The treatment is designed to accommodate your sensitivity and comfort level. It is normal to experience a warm sensation for a few hours post treatment. Your skin may also appear pink for several hours.

Are Results Permanent?

Following your complete treatment regimen, it is recommended that you receive maintenance treatments periodically. Like all techniques, non-surgical or surgical, results will last longer if you follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

“Even though I’ve always gotten plenty of exercise, I still had a real love-hate relationship with the fitting room. Now that VelaShape has helped me take an inch off my abdomen, I feel like everything I try on fits a little bit better!”

Lymphatic Drainage with the VelaShape III

At Dermamode, we use the VelaShape III technology to perform lymphatic drainage treatments. VelaShape’s rollers and controlled suction enable rolling action for lymphatic drainage. Results do vary depending on the individual and everyone reacts differently to treatments but you can expect your legs to feel lighter, water retention reduced and tissues looking firmer and more toned. If you feel that your legs are heavy, swollen or discomfort in you ankles this may be exactly what you need.

The Importance of a Well-Functioning Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is made up of organs, ducts, nodes and vessels and is considered a vital part of the circulatory system. The clear fluid called lymph is made up of white blood cells including lymphocytes which help the body’s immune system defend against harmful bacteria and cancer cells. Lymph nodes which are found in the neck, abdomen, groin and armpit manufacture the cells that allow the body to remove cancer and fight off infections. Swelling of the lymph nodes, commonly called “swollen glands,” occurs when the lymph nodes manufacture more white blood cells to fight infection.

The Benefits Lymphatic Drainage

People may benefit from lymphatic drainage to treat a wide array of disorders, from swelling to wrinkles.

The following is a short list of problems that can benefit from lymphatic drainage:

  • Edema, which may be the result of traumatic injury, menstrual problems or skin disorders.
  • Skin disorders, such as acne, rosacea, and eczema.
  • Metabolic problems, including fatigue, sleep disorders, chronic pain and stress.
  • Gastrointestinal issues, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), celiac and Crohn’s disease.
