Feeling like I haven’t slept in 5 months but not looking like it!? I think so!
As many mamas and mamas to be probably already know sleeping is only for the lucky ones. I don’t know about you but sleep became a privilege when I got pregnant, both times. Maybe it was nerves, excitement or just my body adapting to all the changes. None the less I looked rested (.. on the outside). The reason for this phenomenon is my skin care routine. I have the perfect products, safe to use during pregnancy, that helped me look like I’m a well-rested, relaxed and a glowing mama of 1 and a half.
Working in the medical aesthetics industry, I was always used to getting pampered with chemical peels, micros and laser treatments but when I got pregnant I had to stop all that. It wasn’t easy but thankfully I got a hold of Vitamin C and other products. We always hear about Vitamin C and it’s benefits for the skin but you don’t realize how amazing it is till you incorporate it into your skin care routine. Being in the industry I know that Vitamin C is a must, helping with everything from free radical damage due to sun exposure like hyperpigmentation, (yes… ladies that beautiful pregnancy mask some of us get), it will even out your skin tone, it gives your skin a youthful glow, (not like the sweats more of a dewy glow), helps control acne (thank you hormones!), and other environmental damage such as wrinkles and fine lines.
Before my pregnancy I prepped my skin with a series of fractional laser treatments (mainly to reduce my melasma) and regularly scheduled Salicylic Peels which helped me control the drastic change I experienced in my skin during my first pregnancy. Now, that I am pregnant again I’m super happy that I was able to prep my skin beforehand. It is no longer safe for me to do these treatments and I only want to use oil free, fragrance free, calming products that have the highest quality ingredients. As well as products that really work in helping me maintaining my skin’s appearance throughout my pregnancy.
Here are my skin care secrets:
Bioactive Cleanser – great cleanser that also helps make sure that my skin is well cleansed and also removes any residue that I accumulated during the day. This is a great product for my back and chest if my hormones decide to breakout on those areas.
Exfoliant Forte – I used to be able to exfoliate regularly or every 4 weeks I should say by getting Salicylic Peels but now that I am pregnant this is my best option. This leave on exfoliant is great but also quick and easy. I apply is once a day and skip I day if I feel it to be necessary. This he
Serum 10 Vitamin C – It contains 100% pure L-Ascorbic Acid (pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C), the best quality Vitamin C available and the only form of Vitamin C that is absorbed by the body. Yes, it is 100% oil-free. I use it twice and two drop is enough to cover than entire surface of your face. I like to use it in the morning so that I have a glowly look but also to get extra protection for my melasma since I combine it with and spf.
Derma Rich Moisturizer – I have very dry skin so this is perfect for me but I do use a lighter one if I feel like my skin does not need as thick of a cream.
Oxigenetix Foundation or Sheer Tint – This foundation are great for coverage but also good for your skin’s health. It has spf protection, it is breathable and will cover while moisturizing as well. I love it for everyday use!
SPF always, every day! Don’t forget, it is especially important while pregnant since our skin is more prone to hyperpigmentation and more sensitive to UV rays due to the increase in hormones.
