Post-Treatment Care

DAY 1-2: The treated area will feel tight and may appear slightly darker.
The day of the peel application is “Day 1.” The Peel solutions should remain on the treated areas for at least 6 hours. During the first 6 hours, do not wash, touch, rub, or apply makeup to the treated areas.

After 6 hours you can apply the Post Peel Moisturizer with 1% hydrocortisone (included in Patient Home Care Kit) if:

  • The skin feels excessively irritated
  • If you are of Fitzpatrick Skin Type 4-6 or if you have melasma or hyperpigmentation
  • A booster was added to the peel treatment

If you are not experiencing any irritation, the peel solution can remain on your skin until your evening cleansing or it may be left on overnight.

When ready to wash off:

  • Gently cleanse or pat the skin with a Soothing cleanser and dry the treated areas lightly. Vigorously apply the 1st Post Peel Towelette to the treated areas. Let dry thoroughly. Towelette solution should be left on for 50 minutes before applying Mineral Perfection SPF 30. Makeup may be applied if desired.
  • 30-60 mins before bedtime, gently wash and dry the treated areas. Vigorously apply the 2nd Post Peel Towelette to the treated areas. Leave the solution on overnight.

If you are experiencing irritation, apply a small amount of The Post Peel Moisturizer 2-3 times daily. You may also apply a cold compress against the irritated area for relief. If there is no significant irritation, do not use any moisturizing products on the treated areas until peeling begins (usually Day 3).
Avoid excessive sweating, sauna or heavy exercise during the peel process.

DAY 3-6: Peeling generally begins on Day 3.
After peeling begins, apply The Post Peel Moisturizer (included in the Home Care Kit) to the treated areas 2-3 times a day to control the peeling and relieve tightness.
– This moisturizer should be used for one week for skin types 1-3
– Use for two weeks for skin types 4-6
– If The Post Peel Moisturizer runs out, a 1% hydrocortisone cream may be substituted(can be purchased at any local pharmacy)
– Do not rub, pick or pull on the peeling skin, let the peeling occur naturally. Rubbing, picking or pulling may cause scarring.
– Gently wash (do not scrub) and dry the treated areas morning and night, and apply ThePost Peel Moisturizer as needed.
– Mineral Perfection SPF 30 should be applied every 2 hours during the day.

DAY 7+ : The peeling process is generally complete.
Mild sloughing may still be occurring in some treated areas. Continue to protect the skin with Mineral Perfection SPF 30 as sun exposure after a chemical peel can cause adverse reactions such as hyperpigmentation.

WHAT TO EXPECT: It’s normal to feel some tingling or a slight burning sensation after treatment. Your skin may become dry, flaky, irritated, or mildly red. A few days later, your complexion may appear dull and uneven, and in some cases, you may experience purging or breakouts. These are all temporary conditions that will subside in the following days/weeks.

Please note: If your skin doesn’t peel it doesn’t mean the treatment was unsuccessful. The degree of peeling may vary at every treatment.

Best time to care for your hair is at night before bed.

  1. Either shower or disinfect the skin on your scalp before. (to disinfect, apply 60-70% alcohol to a cotton pad and rub it into the scalp cleansing and disinfecting)

  1. Product application;

  1. EVERY NIGHT: apply the Hair Lotion and massage it in well, with slight pressure (like a scalp massage you may have experienced at your hair dresser or barber in the past) for 3-5 minutes.
  2. EVERY SECOND NIGHT:
    1. use the Dermaroller on your scalp for 4-5 minutes (TIP: set a timer on your phone and watch TV)
    2. apply the Hair Lotion and massage it in well, with slight pressure (like a scalp massage you may have experienced at your hair dresser or barber in the past) for 3-5 minutes.

How to apply the Hair Lotion:  Apply 4-5 drops on the scalp (try to get the drops on the more problem spots on the scalp) and “scalp massage” with your fingers for about 3 minutes.

How to clean your Dermaroller:  When you’re done hold the roller under the hottest water you have for 45-60 seconds, then spray with the cleanser (4 sprays/pumps); make sure you wash all sides of the roller.

  • Make sure to wash/disinfect the roller at every use.
  • Do not share your Dermaroller with anyone in the household.
